Dancing Foxes Earrings

I have just made these spindly legged little fox earrings.

There will be more little fox jewellery to follow! :)

Little Tower Earrings

My first ever pair of earrings made entirely from scratch!

I pierced out the tower shapes and hammered them to give them the appearance of being made from stone. I then soldered them to some sterling silver wire, which I had formed into earring hooks.

Meet Frankie the fox!

I bought a needle felting kit from a shop called woolpets on etsy with some of my Christmas money and it is a seriously magic crafting technique! You basically stab a piece of very fine wool repeatedly with a very sharp needle and it becomes a creature of your choice.

This is Frankie the fox, named after Frankie Boyle because I was watching Mock the Week on Dave when I made him! I think he's seriously cute and I hope to make a whole family of foxes to use in my photos as I'm creating a foxy inspired line of jewellery.

Castle with a Sapphire Moat

In preparation for my trip to Libertys I have been feverishly making jewellery ALL WEEKEND! I feel this strange sense of responsibility when I buy sheet silver because I have so many design ideas I worry that I am choosing the wrong thing to make. When you can essentially make anything, it is difficult to decide what will be best but I'm glad that this has turned out quite well.

I have spent all day today making this pendant. It is a stylized castle with three blue sapphires sporadically arranged to create the idea of a moat full of water. It needs a bit more polishing and I haven't decided whether to use chain or beads to finish the necklace off. I will wait for inspiration to hit to decide that. I have had to stop work on it now because I realized that I had been sitting in the same position for several hours and I thought it might be better to finish it when I'm less irritable! Also, I can't really saw, solder or drill past 10 p.m. without keeping people awake! Still, I definitely think it's my best creation so far technically speaking and my flat mates have all been very positive about it.

Libertys Open Call for New British Designers

I have applied to go to the open call for new British designers at the London department store Libertys on 6th February. I am now counting down the days (and desperately trying to decide what designs I will take along!)

It's very exciting and scary but I think it will be good for me to have a fixed deadline to work to.

Wish me luck! :)

Moon Bunnies

I had this quite random idea for a little tiny rabbit sitting on a crescent moon contemplating the vastness of space... Here are a few sketches showing how I tried to get the right proportions for my design and the (almost) finished article. The other photos show a single bunny with a hammered texture moon and two bunnies with a shooting star.

I've written a little ditty to include in my item descripton for when I put this up for sale...

The bunny who lived on the moon
First arrived on a shooting star
When he looked down to check out the view
He realised he’d travelled quite far

I'm playing around with the design to make a Valentines Day version that incorporates a heart. I have had to keep the two little bunnies and shooting star pendant for myself! :)

A little look at my sketchbook...

I thought it might be nice to post a few photos from my sketchbook to let people know what I am designing at the moment. I start my new term in jewellery making on January 12th so I will be making lots of new trinkets soon!

Creatures by Donna Wilson

I love these creatures.
Brilliant as gifts, even better as presents for yourself!

My first foray into film!

I have just been an extra in a zombie movie call Devil's Playground!

SO

MUCH

FUN!

They sprayed on veins and then added splats of fake blood for that authentic undead look! If you ever get to see this movie, I will be running after a car in an underground car park trying not to laugh! :D
